Basketball at it's Best
Dec. 10th, 2006 01:19 amSO...... I don't like this format for updating my journal. It makes me sad inside. I like the darkness more. Like where the journal's posted. Eh. Y'know what else makes me sad inside? That Pralene wasn't at the game tonight and her dad was. I even told that one guy (as he is referred to in Pralene's LJ) that it made me sad inside when I asked if she came on the fanbus. Very sad inside. Lots of things make me sad inside. Like mi madre and her whole situation. I wish she would communicate with me - or sister. She just talks to older sister and her 2 close friends. She drives around and cries and stuff. Urgh - I don't want to worry about it. Nope - not going to worry about it. Happy thoughts .... happy thoughts....
The game itself tonight was very nice. The ride to and from could've been better.... and I think the other three manangers still annoy the heck out of me. *rollseyes* And most of the time it's because they're absolute idiots. :( I don't like the entire world being idiots... it's another thing that makes me sad inside. That's why I need to find someone not stupid *coughFrodocough* to spend my time/life with so I'm not always sad inside over stupid little stupidity things. Oh well. Anywho - Diamonds is always SO annoying on the bus because she has to turn around and look at all of the bus... she has nothing to do and just..... ERGH! It just annoys me, her lack of propriety (please don't kill me if it's not the proper phrase!) and the other three's lack of propriety too. ERGH! Oh, and it is the right phrase. HA ha! :D So at the game, I was camera-person for the JV game 'cuz I'm the actual trustworthy one. :D Okay, so before I go on I should explain. I don't like doing the camera. You have to be focused on making sure the majority of the action is caught within the lens so much that you can't really pay proper attention the game itself. It sounds odd, but that's how it is. And there's me - the ex-cheerleader who loves going to and watching the games that she became a manager. YEAH. But tonight wasn't that bad because at Whiting you're so high up that you can have one half of the court in the lens at one time so I could pay attention with my actual eyes for a fair amount of time. :D Then between games Sophmore manager asked me if she could switch me and take over the camera because she thinks that waterbottles and towels are BORING. Other than my shock at her opinion, I was very happy with her proposition, but Coach was all, "Are you going to teach her? Can she do it." Whatever stuff. It made me happy inside. So then 2 of the 3 thorns in my side went up really high to tape (since - of course they're inseperable) which brightened my night.
Both JV and varsity won, JV wasn't as far up as varsity... but it was almost like no competition. They were able to put basically the starters on the C-Team in almost all at once, which is really good. The varsity game was the slaughterhouse though. That was awesome.... at the end of the first quarter the score was like 2-26 or even 30ish, I can't remember. And at the end of the half we were up to forty-something while they had about ten, and we had already substituted basically all of our starters for our pretty much second team on varsity. Y'know - since there are twelve people on varsity. I'm pretty sure that at the end of the third quarter we were substituting all of our starters out for our second team too. Then by the end of the game we had our second team still in and it was like 20 to 70ish. Very fun. And not so fun when I was frantically trying to get the towels out of the washer (7th grade manager put them in) because C-Team has a game on Monday, it's away - and they'll need their uniforms. So yeah.
But I'd have to say the most fun part of the night was during the varsity game was when I was talking to - lets call her Francine. A freshman cheerleader who's also in student council, had a sister who just graduated (also a cheerleader) and her brother is a senior on the basketball team. Sure - the part where our #34 was playing defense and blocked the ball with his foot, where it flew up to the upper deck and Frodo's dad caught it like a baseball (he was half-way acting like he was going to keep it too) was good, and I felt special when Frodo's dad offered me nachos during half-time when I was taping (and then I dropped it on myself - feeling uber stupid)... but this tops them all. Francine is totally my favorite freshman. And being on JV volleyball and basketball mangager I'm actually getting to know quite a few freshman. Well - I like J-man too (momentary name - please don't hurt me) but he's a guy.... and I've actually really known him for like at least a year before now.
Anywho... so I was sitting down next to the cheerleaders and the team, and Francine's the one sitting next to me as far as the cheerleaders go. So I dunno when we started having the small little conversation, but I do remember that she wanted to tell her brother good job after he came out and I kind of passed the message on since he wasn't really paying attention. It was just so funny because she's sitting there and she's saying how she'd tired, and the other team should just forfeit, and she has to work tomorrow instead of going to her uncle's birthday party... And I chip in saying how it wouldn't be fun if they forfeited, and being nice about her having to work 'cuz that sucks etc. And we were actually having very nice mini-conversations in which she was just being very unpleasant and in misery and stuff, and she's making me smile and laugh. I even said to her, "Instead of making me all sad and bored, you're just making me laugh." So she says, "I'm glad that you find my misery amusing." I dunno - it was just funny the way she was saying it, and I don't think she was really getting mad at me for laughing or anything.... I just know that it was tons of fun.
BTW - I totally love TIA. Completely. Okay - I'm done. G'nite!
