Volleyball - yet again
Oct. 21st, 2006 05:39 pmOkay - I don't care that I was going to write about not being obsessed, this is about volleyball sectionals. I can write about non boy crazy me later. Sectionals. This morning started out very well - got to the school at ten and everything was going good - people were coming and everyone was pumped (by people I mean players - our crowd was uber sucky today). Marquette was playing Triton at 11 and we had the second game at 12:30, so Marquette and Triton start playing. Naturally Marquette moves ahead and it's like 15-4 or something. I really don't remember. So Westville varsity ('us' basically) goes upstairs and we all start to stretch, warm-up, and practice. Nothing very intense, but practically identical to what we did on Thursday night. I feel the need to mention though that the head Coach (the person who is also sharing a room ((for teaching)) with my sister-in-law) hasn't come yet and it's because she was at her sister's baby shower. And yet she wouldn't let Shawndra leave IF we lost to go to her cousin's wedding. Whereas weddings are planned like years in advance and if you're as close as being someone's sister you could not go or have them change the baby shower. Ergh. Anyway.....
Like I was saying we were practicing and all was going well. Pumped up and everything for everybody was pretty much on. Serving, setting, hitting, passing - it was all good. We had intensity and were ready to play. While we were upstairs in our own little world though - Triton was actually winning against Marquette. They had won 2 games and Marquette only 1 when we went back downstairs. Aside from being shocked to see it was true - here we were all pumped up to play and READY to play and whoop Culver's @ss, and instead we get to sit in the stands which are starting to get people who are OUR fans there. So we sit there for TWO more games because Marquette ended up winning and then winning by 3 or 4 points. Now it was our turn and our focus has been diluted by talking to our friends and family in the stands, and adreniline has been reduced to practically nothing. \
We haven't figured this out yet though - we're still in a good mood and then we run out and warm up - and our hitting's off, our serving is off, and when we scrimmaged we pretty much sucked. Needless to say - we lost in 3 games. On the glass is half-full side though.... I got put in for like maybe 2 volleys for a blonde junior in the front row who was not doing her best - which is bad for her and the overall team but good for me personally. Then on the last point from losing Head Coach puts me in for a person who wasn't doing bad - blonde sophmore in the front row..... which is an illegal substitution. I couldn't go in for the 'position' that I didn't go in for before. And whether or not Head Coach knew that (she might've, I wouldn't put it past her) she put me in and that was the last point. Game over. End of the season. You would've thought Marquette did it on purpose (they ended up beating Culver in 3 games btw) just to screw us up because they knew that we couldn't beaten them if given the chance and properly pumped up like we would've been after beating Culver. And if we had Head Coach said that she would buy us all dinner or something like that. She would buy us food. *shrug* Oh well. I'm too fat anyway.....
Of course - I might just go over to friend from Michigan City's house and eat pizza tonight.... Now I just have cheerleading/basketball season (cheering for the boys) to worry about. I'm really thinking that we're not going to have try-outs again now.... the thought saddens me. But I think I'll deal with it. I'll have to. Okay - I'm all done now. Oh - and fellow LJ friend, I hereby dub your alias in my blogs as "Pralene" like from Where the Heart Is. It was going to be Meg from Little Women but I was practically convinced that it was already an alias of yours. And I want to use the same ones (for the same people)...... :D
