I think I need to do this again. Just because I have to. iSam's Mom: the likes and dislikes.

Like:

- There are a shit ton of new clips in the credits. Sadly, this means that Sam beating up monster!Spencer is no more, and there's more Gibby, but overall it's nice. Sort of. Previous seasons they've kept WAY more clips than the TWO they did this time. I know only two because I read Dan's Fun Facts.

- I love the pre-credits scene. A LOT. They always tend to be the best scenes, especially in tweendom. It's mostly pre-plot, everyday stuff. Which means we got Carly's first of two obvious body look-overs of the episode (talking about his tight pants? Really?) and there was Freddie hip-swiveling (Again!) and Sam's mom story was AWESOME. She got a tattoo. From a guy in line for fried chicken.

- For some odd reason, I liked Spencer's/Jerry's new haircut a lot more in this episode. Was it more mussed? Has it grown out a bit from the "just cut" look?  Did they dress him better? I don't know, but I liked it.

- You all caught the Spam undercurrent, right? He doesn't care from the start, and only cares once she deletes his DVR item. It's like my personal canon of awesome friends to lovers is such a flawless transaction that no one can tell the difference actually happened in this episode. AWESOME. But I'll come back to this area. I promise.

- Spencer was going to make Sam eggs at four in the morning. FOUR IN THE MORNING. A "yes, dear" moment if there ever was one! ♥ ♥

- Spencer brought a mini-vacuumm (I forget the name) as a thief-weapon. :D I love when characters do this, it's a very interesting character note.

- Spencer's attitude towards the group of people in his apartment in the first half of the episode. Like when he made fun of baby!Freddie and mushrooms and such. :D

- The Sam - Pam dialogue. It was really, really good. Very authentic and not at all out of line with what we've seen as Pam when she wasn't an on-screen character. Sam too. And really - Jane Lynch and Jennette were SO GOOD.

- Sam only made up with her mom because Carly was freaking out and needed to get out of the therapy box. She did it for Carly, and it was a very Cam moment, and I am not afraid to admit it.

- Miranda's performance when she was going crazy was actually pretty awesome. I rarely like her, but that scene I did.

- T-Bo is hilarious.

- Mama Benson went and boiled all of the silverware. :D

Dislike:

- Carly's attitude. Sure, she'll talk to Sam about her mom and her insanity, but Sam decides she actually can't stay at her house anymore and all sympathy is gone. The only redeeming moment for her really shitty attitude the whole episode was in the end where she tells her she's terrible, but - oh right, you're my best friend and I love you anyway. You have a really shitty way of showing that, Carly Shay.

- Spencer mistaking Sam's dislike of the word "panties" for "stairs" was not funny. I mean, Jerry was, as always, fantastic and his "now I'm embarrassed" is funny, but it was still stupid.

- Mama Benson seriously hired a private bodyguard for Freddie? And forced him to eat mushooms, and was a crazy person every second she was on screen. I know she's like this normally, and we love her for it, but this time it was on overdrive, and in essence a very uncomfortable throwback to "iHeart Art" where she watches Carly in the afternoons.

- Sam and Pam were in the therapy box for NINE HOURS?! There is a time to call it quits, people. ESPECIALLY when someone who is not a main part of the conflict actually is having a physical breakdown like Carly was. I know it's probably the "unorthodox" part of the therapy box, that no one leaves until there's harmony, but I still really hated it. Not to mention that in addition to those nine hours they had probably been in the normal therapy for at least an hour, maybe two, already.

- I thought that Schneiderverse didn't actually mention real things except for, y'know Ryan Seacrest (and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire), but they throw out Full House? Not only that, but there's actually a heard line of "you got it, dude!" ? Which I don't think was actually an Olsen twin from the actual, and that's like, totally shoving it down our throats. Don't do that.

- Carly and Spencer's attitude toward Sam. No, I'm serious. Isn't it established canon that Sam spends an extreme amount of time at their apartment anyway? And they don't mind, they still love her, they are her family, but here, when she's lounging on the couch and eating food there (she eats their food all the time anyway, she ate Spencer's ribs and made the bones into a necklace for heaven's sake!) I am sure that she has lounged on their couch before (under a supremely comfortable looking blanket that I waaaant it's so pretty and looks fluffy!) and we know she's bought things on their pay-per-view and she's changed the AC temperature. She has had food ordered to their apartment and lets herself in and uses it as a working space sometimes. Why is this so different? Why do their atttitudes change so drastically? They shouldn't. They should change some, and Spencer for the most part does a good job of things being normal-ish, but Carly turns majorly bitchy and yells and seems to forget who her best friend is. Carly really irritated me for most of the episode. But it was necessary? Because...

- Carly called/talked to/ got Sam's mom to come over. WHY? To be bitchy and vindictive. And again, I felt a throwback to iFence, because Carly is bitchy and mean and does not actually understand her best friends at all. It was four in the morning (not even! Carly's clock said 3:59) when Sam got to the Shay's, after having a fight, packing her bag, and most likely walking to their apartment because public transport would not be running then. Doesn't that tell you that there is something seriously wrong going on?

- The hammer guy... I just - what? meh. Although thinking on it now, it feels very D&J. And I wasn't so fond of Spencer randomly putting it on someone else's door. Couldn't they at least put enough effort in to have it be Lewbert or something? It's never actually been established which floor he lives on, has it?

- I know it doesn't actually matter, but the time stamp was really hard to figure out. Like how long was Sam actually staying with them? What's the length of time before they saw the therapist (I know they said a day, or tomorrow, or something, but I highly doubt it) and wouldn't it take a while or at least SOME planning to get them both to go? For a therapist to have an entire day free? Or did he cancel his other appointments because they were still in the therapy box?

- The subplot was sooooo sucky. It was here, then there, and all over the place, and it basically just got the Bensons into the Shay apartment too. *rolls eyes*

- I'm going to take this opportunity to be a Gibby-hater. Not hate hate - but I really don't like that he's officially a main-credits character. That means he has to be in all the episodes, and while it sounds good, I mean who doesn't love Gibby? - but it's actually bad. It reminds me of when HM made Rico a main titles character, and it made sense (like with Gibby), because he was already in an overwhelming amount of episodes as a recurring character... but then every subplot was sucked in with him, characters that otherwise could have had much more interesting plots elsewhere had to be fitted with him. Jackson plots were more stupid, there was less Oliver - it was all around bad. And I don't want any possible Sam/Spencer scenes or Freddie/Carly or integral-Spencer or integral-Freddie plots or scenes missing because they're being paired with Gibby in a random side plot. It sounds pessimistic, but it's already reared its ugly head in the second episode, because the subplot was so random and it included Gibby in a small way, but he had to be there, so it happened, and I just am not so okay with this.

And... yes, I am procrastinating against schoolwork. I'm in the library and am a terrible person. :(
